Food packaging has not been so crowded with labels while it has been over the past a very extensive period. Enter any whole food aisle or gourmet shop, and you\’re guaranteed to see plenty of packaging boasting a gluten-free food, or perhaps an item that\’s organic, or produce which has no GMOs. And, of course, those sort of labels may start to help us while in the right direction when we\’re trying to find clean, healthy food choices products.
But in accordance with a newly released article while in the Washington Post, these labels can mislead customers into thinking every meal with all the label \”gluten-free\” or \”organic\” must be healthy. Due to this fact, many of us could possibly be purchasing foods that, while produced sustainably, may not be the healthiest choice inside the grocery. And the Post isn\’t wrong! I have come across packages of sugary candy labeled \”gluten-free\”, which might be set with sugar and calories. While a fatty cut of meat might be produced organically, it could possibly be packed with fat and cholesterol.
My recommendation is usually to look at the ingredients list on packaged foods. Are cookies gluten-free? Great! But is a first ingredient corn syrup? Put it back! So when the thing is that your pre-packaged foods promises to be \”organic\” or \”natural\”, check out the ingredients to ensure that it\’s actually not set with sugars and flours which, while they could be organic, will not be great for your heart, your waistline, and your bloodstream sugar levels! Certainly be a smart shopper and outsmart those label-happy supermarket aisles!
